Rossi: ‘Enormous Improvements’ in the E-Cat QX, ‘ Now our module is very close to be ready to be reproduced massively’

I found it interesting that here Rossi confirmed that there will be a 1 kW QX reactor, whereas previously the largest one mentioned was 80 W. So it sounds like there has been a new development or breakthrough. Of course not very much to go on, but it’s interesting that Rossi is sounding even more confident than before about industrial production starting up.

“This invention is a reproducible method of generating particles through the electrolysis of palladium in heavy water. The invention consists of an electrochemical cell composing an anode, a cathode, and magnets within an electrolyte solution of palladium dissolved in heavy water. To initiate the particle generating process, a power source supplies a constant current to the cell body through the partially immersed cathode and anode for a specified period of time. The current causes the deposition of palladium particles onto the cathode element due to the evolving deuterium gas during electrolysis. These periods of current may be repeated for a variety of different values, and for different period lengths dependent on the needs of the materials. This process can be customized based on the most productive cycles for each specific reaction.”

“LION – is it the Basis for a $bn+ Industry?” (Bob Greenyer)

Bob Greenyer of the Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project has published a new video and a new post on the MFMP’s Steemit blog a new post analyzing the LION 2 reactor which was sent to Bob in a rather destroyed state by its maker (who goes by the name of LION here on E-Cat World).

The LION 2 reactor appears to have been transmuting Cr found in the Kanthal A1 heater wire, via addition of Deuterons through Mn to Fe. If so, this represents a high nuclear transmutation yield process that begins with easily obtainable, safe, off the shelf elements and industrial materials with the products not able to have radioactivity of any kind after the 50Cr is imploded to stable isotopes. Further study of other pieces of heater wire / flakes need to be conducted with mass spectrometry and magnetic resonance techniques to confirm this finding via determining isotopic concentrations, especially 57Fe.

If confirmed, this technology has the potential to form the basis of a multi-billion dollar nuclear waste and contamination treatment industry that is much needed, especially for those living around the pacific given both Fukashima and Enewetak Atoll. It also may be able to synthesise commercially important elements profitably making it a desirable experiment for first time LENR researchers.

Rossi: 40 Percent of the Way to Industrialization

Many of us wonder how things are progressing in Andrea Rossi’s stated goal to start production of his E-Cat plants this year. As is typical, we get very few details of what is going on behind the scenes at Leonardo Corp., but once in a while Rossi gives a bit of a status update. Today on the the Journal of Nuclear Physics was this exchange:

I prefer not to enter in these particulars, but what is troubling us more is the definition of all the particulars of the modules before a bulk production: if you make an error in this issue you get the errors in all the modules, with the consequences you can imagine.
But many other issues remain and I want not to disclose them.

If you are going to produce anything automatically, you obviously have to get the automation procedures just right, or you will mass produce faulty products, which would be disastrous. The 40 per cent figure is clearly just a ball park estimate, getting to 100 per cent this year still seems very optimistic to me as I imagine there are all kinds of things that could delay things. Unforseen circumstances lead to even the most sophisticated and experienced companies pushing back product launch dates, so it would not be at all surprising to see that happen in this case.

New Inflow: Russian Company Claims LENR Success

Thanks to Max Nozin for posting a link to a Russian company called New Inflow which was founded in 2009, and since then have been carrying out both theoretical and experimental research in the LENR field.

The website states:

Company’s currently held experiments are based on generation of plasmoid formations in swirling gas flow which are created by various impulse-modulated discharges and subsequent utilization of generated heat.

Experimental laboratory setups are developed and simulated with the help of new mathematical models and methods.

As of today, the following main results in the LENR area were achieved by the “New Inflow” company:

  • LENR effects were confirmed in several lab experiments. This fact is consistently proved by conducted measurements using up to date diagnostic equipment;
  • heat COP of devices created in “New Inflow” is 600% to 800%;
  • results of chemical elements transformation are also obtained;
  • devices created in the “New Inflow” may run on a wide range of materials, and are not limited to costly ones such as Pd and Ni.

Indian Newspaper Predicts Cold Fusion to Power Homes

Another Indian newspaper article looks at the state of LENR/Cold Fusion research and predicts that it won’t be too long until the technology is developed to a point where it will be able to provide power for domestic purposes at very low cost.

After 30 years, Japanese scientists have come out with reports that substantiate observations made during the cold fusion experiments. A research group including scientists of Toyota, Nissan Motor, Universities of Tohoku, Kobe, Kyushu and  Nagoya have found that heat energy was released at room temperature. Professor Emeritus Akito Takahashi, who led the teams has an answer for questions raised by scientists like late Dr Raj. “It could be multi-body fusion occurring at an extremely small space,” said he.

Eminent cardiologist Dr B M Hegde has already pointed out that transmutation of potassium to sodium happening in human body is akin to release of heat energy during cold fusion. The research group expects that it was possible to generate 1 kilowatt of heat, which is two orders of magnitude larger than the present reactions, by improving the structure of the sample, increasing the amount reactant, devising changes to the temperature conditions.

One of the experts consulted for this article is Indian nuclear phyiscs Mahadeva Srinivasan, who was the former Head of Neutron Physics Division at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai who is now a private LENR consultant.

He was recently interviewed by Ruby Carat of Cold Fusion Now for her series of podcasts talking to people working in the LENR field.

He told Ruby that he has been trying almost single-handedly trying revive LENR research in LENR after Cold Fusion had been largely dismissed by the scientific community. He has focused his efforts recently on trying to interest members of the current BJP Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and has had some success with this approach, with limited funding being made available from the funding from the Ministry of Renewable Energy to get four LENR research groups started in India. He tells Ruby that three out of four of the groups are currently working on Parkhamov-style experiments with nickel powder and hydrogen, but expects them to try with deuterium also.

New Energy World Symposium Postponed

Mats Lewan has published a post on his New Energy World Symposium website, announcing the postponement of the symposium that had been scheduled for June in Stockholm, Sweden.

After some time of discussions and considerations, I have today decided that the New Energy World Symposium, scheduled to have taken place in June 2018 in Stockholm, will be postponed to a later date, yet to be defined.

The main reason is that several people, including some of those who are working with the development of LENR based technologies which is the main focus of the symposium, have asked me to wait until there’s a product in the market. This would make the event more relevant given that it turns to a wide audience wanting to get a better understanding of the consequences of such a disruptive energy technology—clean, compact, carbon-free, cheap and abundant.

Since there are good reasons to believe that a commercial LENR based energy product could be launched within a year or so, I find it reasonable to listen to this argument, and I will be looking forward to continuing the planning for the event while a product launch is getting closer.

Hot Hot Cat: Large E-Cat SK ‘Reaches 11000C+ (1 eV)’

Andrea Rossi has reported that he and his team is currently testing out a much larger version of the E-Cat QX, which he has named the E-Cat SK (after Sven Kullander).

Rossi was asked on the Journal of Nuclear Physics what temperature he was reaching with the E-Cat SK, and he responded: “1 eV (circa), measured by means of the spectrometer.”

I’d like to understand how “hot” is 1eV, and I’m only used to °C or K.

Is 1eV really equals to 11604.5250061657 kelvin [K] like I could read here : ?

If it is really is so hot (that’s hotter than the average (5778 K) temperature of the Sun when excluding solar flares), I think those who are still calling it “cold” fusion really have to find another name for it 🙂

The T of our sun is between 15 and 1 millions K, with cold areas at ~5-6 000 K
I agree on the fact that ” cold fusion ” is not a proper definition, LENR is better.

All to be confirmed of course, but if this is reality, and the COP is high, then this is another impressive development. Although I had thought that the 2600 C (600 C on the secondary circuit, after the heat exchanger) of the E-Cat QX would have been plenty hot enough for most practical needs.

LENR/Cold Fusion Research in India (Article in Hindu Newspaper)

Thanks to Mats Lewan for posting a link to an interesting article from The Hindu newspaper, published in India, that looks at developments in the field of LENR/Cold Fusion in India.

The article explains that there are at least three research projects underway in the field in India. The article states that so far none of the groups has announced making a breakthrough in terms of bulletproof verification of excess heat production, however one team at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur does claim verification of transmutations.

From the article:

“In our electrolysis experiments, we have found irrefutable evidence of new elements and isotopes forming that can happen only through nuclear reactions. But heat measurements are tough to verify and peers will deny their veracity,” says Professor K. P. Rajeev of IIT-Kanpur.
